The term fund balance was a little confusing

Joerg Mellmann   30-December-2002 - 10:41:00
Easy and short - I finally have the concept of debit and credit down.
Going through this manual was time well spent (I'm an absolute beginner).

alex   13-January-2004 - 23:04:50

mk   26-September-2004 - 08:23:52
I appreciate that their explanation about debit and credit was so simple and clear. I have been reading here and there, but I had such a hard time understanding the concept for long time. They made me understand in 30 minutes. Taking quiz was especially helful. I even feel bad since it did not cost me anything. I personally thank to people who made these pages.

shiezo   23-November-2004 - 04:34:25

It's wonderful that you make it able for a person to learn in the privacy of his or her own home, to acheive there career in accounting. Thanks.

Danielle   01-January-2006 - 20:10:17
Not helpful. I have a Masters degree in Accounting and I have never heard the term "fund balance". I was on this site looking for my students so that they could do research for a report that I am assigning and I will not reccomend this site.

i find it defficult to understand the defference between cash book and posting into leger a/c and the defference betweenprofit and loss account, I need the easy way to go so that i can make it in the carer.
thank's

CK   20-March-2006 - 15:29:24
I also have to agree with Danielle, this site is not recommendable. First off they aren't even explaining the complete steps to becomming an accountant. Really if you are interest in becoming an accountant, your best bet is to go through an actual school whether it be online or physically.

Nancy   19-May-2006 - 00:09:44

Jim Magarahan   15-September-2006 - 14:57:17
Posting of debits and credits are confusing to lay people trying to break into accounting...it's all backwards, as you know, or use to know before you became comfortable with it. On this level of instruction, examples of postings like rent paid in advance (in a start up situation for several months), payments received for goods not yet delivered(downpayments), salaries payable(twice/month)...How do you post them? By the way, I have a blazillion other questions.
Thanks

Wanda   26-September-2006 - 21:03:23
Best I have seen to date. Easy to understand!

NewAtThis   24-October-2006 - 14:26:40
I wish the person who said "fund balance" was the wrong term would tell us the right one. For those of us new at this, the site's a dream in its presentation. If you have factual corrections, we're the audience that needs them the most.

John   26-November-2006 - 15:56:06
Owner's Equity is the General Ledger term. Fund Balance is its Fund Accounting counterpart. Fund Accounting is used by governments & non-profits, which a) must account separately for sources and uses of "restricted" funds and b) should not reflect an "owner" or Owners Equity.

noufal   03-December-2006 - 04:47:51

This site was accessed as a free on line tutorial however the inability to take the test and proceed through the course because of a security block diminished rating this site higher. Free on line tutorial as adverstised should be accessible as a free on line tutorial. Otherwise, the subject matter was user friendly presentable.
