Loved the site! Though I'm vietnamese and seeing this, I think some of the pronounciation text are a bit vague... but overall it gets an A!

Hi, I just happen to enter this site because I am trying to learn vietnamese. I am Vietnamese,
and being away from my country for so long, leaves me a lack of opportunity to learn the language. I
could speak vietnamese fluently but can't really write very well.
I was just back in Vietnam recently and meet a friend there. I am trying to e-mail her in
vietnamese and it becomes a little difficult. She said she laughs when she reads my lettters because
some of the wordings were off. Sometimes she has difficulty understanding what Iam trying to write.
Therefore, I have to drasticly improve my writting ASAP, and it's pretty cool to see that there are
websites to help me out.
Iam just really greatful for the guys that put their time and efforts into estabishing these sites.
Thanks Guys!!! Best regards, TAM

I am a Vietnamese native speaker. I visited this site out of curiousity and did not find it to be very helpful. Much of the spelling were awkward and when I tried pronouncing the words as I knew non-Vietnamese speakers would, they did not come out accurately. I know that the creator of this site wanted to provide non-Vietnamese with a quick and fun way of learning some vietnamese words. However, I think you need to find better methods.

Thank you all for visiting my amateur web page. I could make it into a full-blown language center which every English speaker could use (without the help of "sound", "books", or "tapes") in order to speak Vietnamese fluently :-) But since it's free and it's just for fun, I hope I didn't let you down too much!
Well, I have recently married to a young and very beautiful lady. She was born in East Texas. Perhaps she could help us "pronounce" more of Vietnamese phrases in "the Texan's way" soon.

Warm Regards,
n.t.

Dear "learning Vietnamese" fans,

Yahoo shut down the amateur web page "learning vietnamese" (www.geocities.com/tthank).
I have tried to write them to have the page reinstated but they ignored my request.

Perhaps if you all write them and make the same request, they might take it more seriously.

What a waste of a free resource!

Regards,
n.t.

Hi I was a soldier in vietnam 1968 through 1969. I heard a lot vietnamese phrases and words, and still remember quite a few of them. The language intrigued me, and if I had been there under other circumstances,I'm sure i would have loved the country and heritage.

I enjoy trying to learn new languages, especially if I have friends or coworkers who speak another language. I appreciate the phonetic pronunciation (I found few sites with a phonetic guide), as well as the guide for inflection. I would suggest that the actual spelling be written side by side with the phonetic phrase to help with learning the language. Thanks for site and the free lesson!
